Fly the W!

For those of you who reside outside of the Midwest, this World Series was an even bigger deal than most.  As a Cubs fan since birth, I had come to terms with the fact that I might never live to see my team in the Series, let alone see them win.  So yeah, a really big deal.

The very first baseball game I ever went to was a Dodgers v. Cubs game in LA (my family lived out there when I was born).  I was only 5 months old, and the Dodgers won...  So, the fact that my baby man was born in the year that the Cubs won will always be something special and hard to describe to non-fans.

My family and I were talking about being "long-suffering" fans of the Cubbies, and having to have Cardinals fans constantly rub their good playing and fortune in our faces over the years (Springfield, although in Illinois, is split down the middle in terms of team loyalties).  It occurred to me that this might not be the case for Will.  The curse has been broken, and his experience as a Cubs fan may be completely different than mine was growing up.  Or not.  Either way, there is no denying how awesome this day is.  It's something we will always remember!
